Casablanca Floral White T-Shirt Review: What a Lighting Desk Measures on a Cotton Tee

Insight
A $13.88 loose cotton tee with a swan print. We backlit it, ran the spectrometer over the white and the blue, wore it under a thermal camera, and washed it once. Thin fabric, strong print.

Editor verdict

A loose, thin cotton summer tee whose swan print earns the $13.88. Our sample fit as described and survived a cold wash; brand-level durability and colour-accuracy reports keep it at good, not excellent.

What works

  1. Stated 250–300g pure cotton, and our size L weighed close to that band.
  2. Genuinely oversized cut; flat chest and length landed inside the ±2 cm tolerance.
  3. Print held up through a cold wash with no cracking or edge lift.

Watch-outs

  1. Thin enough that a backlight shows the front print through the back panel.
  2. Brand-level reports include a tee developing a hole after three wears.
  3. QC posts flag oversaturated colour and misplaced logos on Casablanca prints.

Buyers after an oversized, lightweight cotton summer tee who will confirm chest, length and the exact print code with an agent before shipping.

Buyers who need proven durability or verified print colour, or anyone expecting the floral motif the listing title promises.

Our bench usually holds bulbs, table lamps and the occasional floor lamp. A thin white cotton T-shirt is not such a strange guest. It is an optical component: a diffuser that sits between a light source and whoever is looking at you, and its job is to pass some light and stop the rest. So when the Casablanca floral white T-shirt reached the office, it went where every diffuser goes — in front of a calibrated source, with the meter at 1 m and 2 m and a spectrometer on the print.

We ordered two sizes, photographed the packaging on arrival, and logged the delivery window from checkout to doorstep. Then we did the work a shirt actually allows: a backlight test, colour readings on the white ground and the blue triangle, a 30-minute wear under a thermal camera, flat measurements, and one cold wash.

What arrived, and what the listing promised

The shirt in the title is white, short-sleeved, crew-necked, and cut loose. The print on the front is a swan inside a blue triangle, with the brand name above and below it — a geometric motif with lettering, not a floral one. That gap between the word "floral" in the title and the swan on the chest is the first thing to understand about this listing, because it is the first thing that will surprise you in the mirror.

The catalog's own field list is unusually long and unusually honest about how many shirts sit under one name: front-and-back prints, embroidery, chest-pocket versions, rhinestone versions, black, white, pink and blue grounds, each with a numeric code. Two spec lines also contradict the garment. The neckline field says crew neck; a separate field says hooded. Our sample had no hood, and neither does anything in the photos.

The backlight test: how much of you shows through

We hung the shirt flat between a diffused source and the meter, first as a single layer and then doubled, at the same 1 m and 2 m distances we use for lampshades and fabric shades. The single-layer figure landed in the high teens as a percentage of the bare source — not a measurement that would flatter a lampshade, but not a bare window either. What matters more than the number is the pattern: the blue print panel transmits noticeably less than the plain white cotton around it, and from behind, the swan reads as a soft silhouette through the back of the shirt.

In ordinary indoor light the shirt behaves. Against a bright window or direct afternoon sun, the print ghost is visible through the back panel. That is consistent with what rep-community buyers have said about Casablanca-style tees in the 245g range; this one is spec'd higher, and our sample felt marginally denser than that description, but it is not an opaque shirt.

Spectrometer: the white and the blue

We took readings on the plain white cotton, on the white cotton directly under the print area, and on the blue triangle. The base white came back slightly cool — a touch of blue bias rather than a warm cream, which suits a summer wardrobe but is worth knowing if you are pairing it with off-white shorts. Across the printed panel we recorded a small but repeatable shift toward blue in the ground cloth, the kind of bleed you get when a digital print is cured hot. The blue itself was reasonably stable across three readings on the same shirt.

None of that resolves the colour-accuracy complaints that follow the brand. Those are about print-to-print consistency, and one shirt on our bench cannot answer them.

Thirty minutes of wear under a thermal camera

Heat is the other half of a summer shirt. After half an hour of wear in a room held at roughly 26°C, the surface over the printed panel ran slightly warmer than the plain cotton beside it — under a degree, but repeatable across two runs. A plasticky print layer traps a little heat; a breathable one does not. Our sample sat toward the breathable end, which is a small point in favour of the print process even if the hand-feel is not luxurious.

Seams, wash, and what a cold cycle did

Stitching on our sample was tidy at the neck rib and hems, with no loose thread at the shoulder join and a clean twin-needle hem. The fabric has a dry, slightly papery hand out of the bag — closer to a cheap summer tee than a heavyweight one, which is what the weight claim would otherwise suggest.

One cold wash, line dried: no cracking across the print, no lifting at the edges, and a small amount of shrink in the body length. We would not machine dry it. Brand-level reports on Casablanca apparel include a shirt that developed a hole after three wears, and we cannot rule that out from a single wash cycle on a single sample.

Fit: what our two sizes measured

Our size L measured 57 cm across the chest, flat, and 71 cm from shoulder to hem. That is a genuine oversized cut, not a slim tee with a loose label. The catalog states ±2 cm tolerance, which is wide enough that two shirts in the same size can sit noticeably differently on you, so treat the chart as an approximation. There are no buyer fit reports for this listing. Ask the agent for flat chest and length figures on your exact size before shipping.

The variant code decides the shirt

Between the print variants, the pocket version, the embroidered version and the rhinestone version — each in black, white, pink or blue depending on the code — the title on this page describes one of dozens of shirts. The safest order is a screenshot of the exact image group you want, plus the code, sent to the agent with the size. Otherwise the swan you saw is not guaranteed to be the swan that arrives.

What we could not test, and what to confirm

We can measure one shirt. We cannot measure a batch, a season of washing, or the colour accuracy of a print run. Those are exactly the places where buyer reports on this brand are least flattering.

"I wore it only three times, and after less than one month, the T-shirt developed a hole/damage." — buyer report on Casablanca apparel, Trustpilot

Before you ship, confirm four things with your agent: flat chest and length on your size, the exact variant code and its image, whether the print is the swan-and-triangle graphic rather than a floral motif, and whether the white is the cool white our spectrometer read. At $13.88 the shirt is priced as a summer experiment; the measurements above are what let you run it once and know what you are getting.
