Who we are
LitBuyUS is a small lighting review desk based in Portland, Oregon. We started in 2019 with a plywood bench and a borrowed lux meter, and we have kept the same basic habit since: order the product, open the box, measure it, live with it, and write down what happened. Our testing team covers bulbs, table lamps, floor lamps, desk lamps, under-cabinet strips, and smart lighting for US homes.
What we publish
Hands-on reviews with measured lux, color temperature, CRI, flicker, dimmer compatibility, and heat data.
Comparison tables that put competing SKUs side by side on the same bench and the same circuits.
Buying guides organized by room, fixture type, and budget band.
Retest notes on a 12-month cadence, plus early retests when a SKU or firmware changes.
The desk
Dana Whitfield is our editor-in-chief and the person who signs off on every score. Colin Avery runs the hands-on rotation, including the dimmer wall, the drop tests, and the agent timing logs. Renata Cole handles research: photometric claims, standards references, price history, and the source lists behind each guide. All three work from the Portland office, and all three test with their own hands.
How we are funded
LitBuyUS earns commissions from qualifying purchases made through links on this site. Our test budget comes from that revenue and from the desk's own spending. We buy at retail, keep receipts, and note in each review where a product came from.

Our coverage focus
We help US households choose bulbs and lamps that fit their fixtures and dimmers. Our guides relate measured light output and colour to the socket, circuit and room setup, making the combinations actually tested clear before readers buy.
