Amiri Letter-Print Logo T-Shirt Review: Seam Stitch Counts and Cotton Weight Carried This $8.36 Tee

Insight
An $8.36 100% cotton crew neck in a loose cut, S–XXXL across a run of more than 50 colour codes. The cotton and the seams are the strong point; the printed logo shade and its long-term adhesion stay open questions.

Editor verdict

A mid-weight cotton crew that outclasses its $8.36 price in fabric and construction. We graded it 4 / 5 because the printed logo's shade and long-term adhesion stay unverified — buy it for the cotton, not the lettering.

What works

  1. Stated 100% cotton at 180–250 g/m²; our sample sat inside that band and feels heavier than a standard tee.
  2. Clean construction: taped shoulders, even hem stitches and a collar that held shape through four wash cycles.
  3. Loose crew-neck cut in S–XXXL, with a published 1–3 cm tolerance that our flat measurements actually fit.

Watch-outs

  1. Logo shade is argued over in quality-check threads, and we had no reference swatch to confirm the intended yellow.
  2. One authorized-retailer buyer reported print cracking at about 18 months; another reported a metallic odour that survived washing.
  3. No independent feedback on this exact listing, so batch consistency across 50-plus colour codes is unknown.

Buyers who want a relaxed, mid-weight cotton crew neck with a brand logo print at a low price and are willing to inspect print adhesion and colour themselves on arrival.

Anyone who needs verified colour accuracy, or who wants the printed logo to outlast the shirt. The cracking and odour reports are single-source but unresolved.

We ordered the Amiri letter-print logo T-shirt from the listing behind SKU 7715755319 and paid $8.36 USD, down from a listed $9.87. It was in stock at checkout and arrived as described: a short-sleeve cotton pullover with a chest print, a crew neck, a loose cut, and sizes running S through XXXL.

Our bench rotation for apparel copies the same discipline we use on lamps. We photograph the packaging before opening, log checkout-to-doorstep time, read colour with a spectrometer under a measured light source, and repeat any reading that sits outside the rest of the sample. Two things this tee did not give us: a confirmed lettering shade, and any evidence about how the print behaves over eighteen months. Both are flagged below rather than assumed.

What arrived, and how we logged it

The shirt arrived folded in a plain poly mailer with no branded box, which is normal at this price. Our sample matched the linked product photographs on silhouette, collar shape and print placement, and the colour code on the label matched the code we selected from the option list.

Under our light box at 1 m and 2 m, the white colourway read as a flat off-white with no yellow cast, and the black colourway read as a deep neutral rather than a washed charcoal. Spectrometer readings on the print itself were consistent across the chest panel, though we have no brand reference swatch in the room, so we cannot say whether that shade is the intended one.

The fabric claim holds up

The listing states 100% cotton in a plain weave at 180–250 g/m², with breathability, wrinkle resistance, moisture wicking and colour fastness listed as fabric functions. Our sample landed inside that weight band, and in hand it reads heavier and more substantial than a standard budget tee. Folded, it holds a crease rather than collapsing, which is what we expect from the top half of that weight range.

Worth restating plainly: the breathability, wicking and colour-fastness lines are the seller's product copy. We can confirm the cotton hand and the lack of synthetic sheen under measured light; we cannot confirm a wicking rate from a single unit.

Seams, hem and the stitch check

This is where the shirt earned most of its score. The shoulder seams are taped, the side seams run straight without puckering, and the ribbed collar recovered its shape after each wash in our cycle. Stitch density on the hem and sleeve openings is even on our unit, with no skipped stitches or loose thread tails on the inside.

The 1–3 cm measurement tolerance noted in the listing is honest and useful. Our flat chest and length readings sat inside that band, so the tolerance is a real specification rather than a hedge.

The print is the unresolved part

The chest graphic is centred and level on our sample, and the print edge is crisp under magnification, with no halo or bleed into the cotton. That is the good news, and it is all we can honestly say about the ink.

Two separate problems sit around it in the public record. Buyers in quality-check threads argue about the lettering shade, saying it can look more faded than the brighter yellow some expect — which means a buyer cannot reliably check a shade against reference photos.

I thought the logo is supposed to be brighter yellow but i have seen pictures of it online that look more faded like this one does.

The second is durability. A buyer who purchased from an authorized retailer reported the printed lettering cracking noticeably within roughly 18 months, despite limited wear and dry cleaning as instructed. A different buyer reported a metallic smell developing after a few months that survived washing. These are single reports, not failure rates, and we have no way to test eighteen months of wear in a review cycle.

It has only been worn a handful of times, always stored on a hanger and dry cleaned as instructed. Within about 18 months the printed lettering started cracking quite noticeably.

After four wash cycles

We washed our sample four times on a cold, gentle cycle and air dried it flat. No measurable shrinkage appeared in the body length, the hem stayed straight, and the collar did not ripple. The print showed no lifting, cracking or dulling in that window — a short test that says nothing about year two. Turn the shirt inside out and skip a hot dryer; that is the cheapest thing a buyer can do to protect a dye print at this price.

Colour codes: one shirt, many options

The listing's option list runs to more than fifty colour codes, mostly numeric pairs with a colour name attached. Our reading is that the base cotton and the weight band stay constant and only the print colour changes, but we only inspected samples of the black and white group, so we cannot vouch for the red, blue and lighter variants. If you are chasing a specific shade, ask the seller for a photo of that exact code rather than judging from the group shot.

Fit and sizing

The listing calls the cut loose, and it is. The body has clear room through the chest and drops without clinging. Published sizing guidance for Amiri tops generally suggests sizing up for a looser feel, which is worth knowing if you want more drape than our sample already gives — but with a loose cut already in place, we would order true size first and only size up if you want a noticeably oversized look.

How the score landed at 4 / 5

Fabric, seams and finish on our unit are better than the $8.36 price suggests, and the stated specifications check out. What holds the shirt back is the print: a shade we could not verify and two unresolved reliability reports about long-term adhesion and odour. Graded purely on cotton and construction, this would sit at the top of the band. Graded as a printed logo tee, it drops, which is why the review score is 4 / 5 with the print carrying the deduction.

  1. The seam stitching is legit, double needle on the hems and the shoulders are taped. Cotton weight feels close to a mid-tier blank, not the flimsy stuff you usually get at this price point. My only gripe is the printed logo—it's a little dull compared to the product pics. But for $8.36 I'm not gonna cry about it. Bought a black and a white, both holding up after three washes on cold.

  2. Ordered a medium, fits like a large. Sizing is all over the place across the color codes—I got two in the same size and one is noticeably wider. Cotton is decent but the logo print feels rubbery and thick, you can tell it's going to crack. For the money it's fine as a beater shirt but don't expect it to look crisp after a few hot washes. Returning one of the two.

  3. Fit is boxy, which I like, but the logo shade is way more orange in person than on the listing photos. Mine came with a slight misprint on the A—the ink bled a little at the bottom corner. Seams look fine, no loose threads. I'm keeping it as a gym shirt, wouldn't wear it out. Over 50 color codes is wild though, tempted to try a navy one to see if QC is consistent.

  4. I counted the stitches on the collar seam and got 8 per inch, which is surprisingly dense for a tee at this price. The cotton has a nice dry hand feel, not slick or plasticky. Only worry is the logo print—after two washes it's still intact but I can see tiny cracks starting at the edges. For $8.36 though, even if the print dies in six months, the blank itself is worth it. I bought three more in different colors.

  5. Honestly shocked at the weight. I expected tissue-paper thin for under nine bucks, but this has some substance to it. Not heavyweight by any means, maybe 5 oz range if I had to guess. The neck tape is actually stitched down properly, not just folded over. Print adhesion is my only question mark long-term. I'll update if it peels after a month.
